Abstract:

Inspired by human visual perception, two novel wearable augmented reality displays are proposed. The first, ‘Foveated AR,’ is a dynamically foveated AR display which adapts to user gaze by adjusting the resolution and focal depth. The second, ‘Prescription AR,’ is a prescription-embedded, fully customized AR display which integrates vision correction in a 5-millimeter-thick image combiner. He also presents the concept of ‘personalized AR displays’ and why it is important.

 

 

Biography:

Dr. Jonghyun Kim received his B.S. degrees in the School of Electrical Engineering in 2011 at Seoul National University and received his Ph.D. degrees in the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Seoul National University in 2017. He is currently a research scientist at NVIDIA. His expertise includes AR/VR display, light field display, and Display Optics. He has published 28 International Journal papers and 39 international conference proceedings.
