RESUME
Dr. Lianghui Chen graduated from FuDan University in Shanghai in 1963, and joined the Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, and has been with the Institute since then. He has been engaged in research works in the field of semiconductor optoelectronics including III-V compound material growth, semiconductor photo-detector, semiconductor laser diode, etc.
He worked on long wavelength semiconductor lasers as a visiting professor at Campinas University in Brazil in 1982-1984. He made breakthrough on quantum well lasers in China, and expands material systems with difference emitting wavelengths for different applications. He has received several Science & Technology awards both from Chinese national grade and Chinese Academy of Sciences grade.
He was a director of research group, research department and deputy director of the Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has been a Deputy director of the subject of optoelectronics, Chinese High Tech R & D Program (863 plan). Now he is a Research Professor in the Institute of Semiconductors, the Director of Chinese National Engineering Research Center for Optoelectronic Devices.
He is currently interested in novel quantum well optoelectronic devices and their applications in optical fiber communication, optical storage, optical display and semiconductor laser medical apparatus.
