Abstract

We will speak about see-through MR (Hololens and its internal architecture) as well as VR MR hardware (for ex Samsung MR hardware which was disclosed last week). We will cover also some of the remaining problems such as: Foveated rendering, VAC mitigation, pixel occlusion, etc.

강사이력

Bernard is the Partner Optical Architect at Microsoft Corp, on the Hololens project. He is responsible for next generation optical architectures. Prior to this, he was the principal optical architect at Google [X] Labs on the Google Glass project.

Over the past two decades, Bernard has made significant scientific contributions as an engineer, researcher, associate professor, consultant, instructor, and author.

He has been instrumental in developing numerous optical sub-systems for consumer electronics and industrial products, generating IP, teaching and transferring technological solutions to industry. Application sectors include optical telecom, optical data storage, optical computing, digital image projection and displays, sensors, and more recently head-up and head mounted displays (HUD, smart glasses, AR, VR and MR). His is more specifically involved in the field of micro-optics, wafer scale optics, holography and nano-photonics.

Bernard has published numerous books with Mac Graw Hill and John Wiley and Sons, and has more than 40 patents granted worldwide. He is an SPIE fellow and has been elected to the board of Directors of SPIE in 2016. He is the chair of the SPIE Digital Optics conference series.

Dr. Ilan Spillinger, CVP of Microsoft HoloLens and Silicon, has been with Microsoft since late 2007. He currently leads the HoloLens and Silicon organization, which consists of the HoloLens Hardware engineering team, as well as Silicon and sensor development for HoloLens, Xbox, and accessories.

During his previous six-year tenure with IBM, Ilan was as a Distinguished Engineer and VP of Advanced Processor Design. In that role, he was responsible for development of all Power Architecture-based processors at IBM: server processor; embedded processors; and client-driven solutions (e.g., Xbox 360, Wii). Ilan joined IBM Haifa, Israel development laboratory in 2001, where he managed the IBM Microelectronics Infiniband activity. Prior to that, Ilan was a principal engineer and the manager of the architecture team in Intel Israel responsible for the definition of X86-based low-cost and low-power microprocessors, specifically the first Intel mobile processor in the Intel Centrino roadmap.

Dr. Spillinger holds a D.Sc. in electrical engineering from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa Israel.
