1978 : M.S in Physics, Syracuse University
1983 : Ph.D in Astrophysical Sciences, Princeton University
Career
1983-1985 : Researcher, Los Alamos Science Labarotory
1985- : Researcher, Georgia Institute of Technology
1985-1988: Senior Researcher, Korea Energy Research Institute
강연 내용 :
Plasmonics is an emerging research field that could revolutionize computing and telecommunications over the incoming decades. Traditionally, plasmas have been mainly studied in the areas such as the nuclear fusion, space/solar physics, and plasma processing, and are known to be highly nonlinear, very often to be turbulent. Such highly sophisticated features of a plasma is not much explored in the current plasmonics research yet. Apparently, the knowledge on the complex nonlinear behavior of a plasma which has been accumulated in the past from the traditional studies of plasma physics could be exploited for the development plasmonic device. In this talk, I would like to introduce the nonlinear and turbulent nature of a plasma from a view point of its potential application to the future electronic device.
