Dr. Kyongsik Choi is currently working for Centre for Micro-Photonics in Swinburne University of Technology and CRC-polymer for developing a next-generation 3D optical data storage system using some photopolymer-based metal/dielectric nano-particles.
He received his Ph. D. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Seoul National University, KOREA in 2006.  And also, He worked for Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology for developing the glassless 3D display TV monitor from 2000 to 2001.
His primary research interests are in the three-dimensional display, imaging, and high-density holographic memory system, computational holography, diffractive optics, plasmonics, and nano-scale photonic applications.
  
Abstract
Recent trends and applications for nano- and bio-photonics will be introduced.
First, the physical and overall process for the plasmon-assisted three-dimensional (3D) nanovoid formation inside the poly-vinyl alcohol polymer matrix doped with Au nanorods under the tightly focused femtosecond laser beam irradiation will be presented. Also, the characteristics of a subwavelength-scale 3D void structure will be explained using the FDTD-based confocal laser scanning microscopic image mapping technique. Finally, some promising laser cell trapping technology and plasmon-assisted photo-thermal therapy for cancer cell will be introduced.
