Abstract

Liquid crystal devices are one of the suitable devices for light wave modulations since its half wave voltages are only 1 to 2 V. In this seminar, structure and function of liquid crystal optics with segmented ITO patterns will be described. And then, its application to optical pickups to compensate optical aberrations will be described. Latest studies of Lagueere Gaussian beam generators and aberration correctors and their application to super-imaging optics for bio-imaging and laser processing will be presented.

강사이력

Nobuyuki Hashimoto received Bs., Ms, and Ph. D from Waseda university in 1981, 1983, and 2000 respectively. After joined CITIZEN Holdings, he has engaged in R & D of liquid crystal displays, laser printing, optical storage, and projector. In 1991, he presented real-time 3D holography using own designed liquid crystal devices in Phonics West. In 2000, his research of liquid crystal phase modulators became mass production for aberration compensator of DVD pickups. His recent research is liquid crystal active optics and its application to 3D displays, bio imaging and laser processing. He is a former board of directors of OSJ, a former reviewer board of MIURA(Ministry of University Research in Italy), board of directors of Japan 3D forum, vice president of HODIC(Holography research group of OSJ), and industrial members of Japan Society for Promotion Science.
