Abstract

Would you like to know why The Institute of Optics at University of Rochester is called "A Jewel in the Crown" (皇冠上的宝石)? Please come to my talk to know why. On behalf of the Optical Society (OSA) and Optics Letters (OL), I am honored to meet the students to present about OSA and OL.

Biography

Dr. Xi-Cheng Zhang – Director and Parker Givens Chair at The Institute of Optics, University of Rochester. He is a Fellow of AAAS, APS, IEEE, OSA, and SPIE. His recent awards include 2014 International Society of IRMMW-THz Button Prize; 2012 OSA William F. Meggers Award; 2011 IEEE Photonics Society William Streifer Scientific Achievement Award; and 2009 Rensselaer William H. Wiley Award. He holds several professorships in foreign countries, including Distinguished Professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China), and Honorable Professor at Moscow Lemonosov University (Russia). Dr. Zhang is the founder of Zomega Terahertz Corp USA. Dr. Zhang has received 29 US patents, and authored or co-authored over 300 refereed scientific papers. His h-index is 70, with 24,000 total citation. Dr. Zhang is the Editor-in-Chief of Optics Letters and Director at Large of OSA (2014-2016).
