Digital Holography and Three-Dimensional Imaging
Submission Deadline: 15 October 2007

Digital holography and 3-D imaging are topics of growing interests. They have application in optical information processing, optical data storage, holographic optical elements, 3-D pattern recognition, holographic interferometry for deformation or contour measurement, particle analysis, 3-D optical remote sensing, 3-D holographic microscopy, holographic optical trapping and tweezing, 3-D optical image processing, and 3-D display.

This Information Processing division feature issue will contain a representative selection of topics that have been presented at the inaugural OSA topical meeting Digital Holography and 3-D Imaging, June 2007 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, as well as additional papers that are relevant to the topics listed as follows:

Digital holography theory and systems
Phase unwrapping and retrieval
Computer-generated holograms
Spatial light modulators for holography
Holographic optical elements
2-D and 3-D pattern recognition
Optical correlators
3-D imaging and processing
3-D display
Stereo matching
Stereoscopic cameras
2-D - 3-D content conversion
Shape and deformation measurement
Polarization analysis
Holographic imaging and microscopy
Holographic optical micromanipulation
Manuscripts must be prepared in standard Applied Optics format; see Information for Contributors instructions in any recent issue of Applied Optics. Each paper should be identified as a Digital Holography feature paper. Please submit your manuscript electronically and specify that the manuscript is for the Digital Holography and 3-D Imaging feature (choose from the feature issue drop-down menu).
